1 Founding

The Church of Cyberology came in to existence in the year 2023, when its first followers didn’t feel at home at established religions. On the first of January 2024 the Church of Cyberology was formally founded and registered at the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands.

2 Mission

We’re a sanctuary for online freedom and liberty and have the following mission:

• We defend and promote every human’s sacred rights to freedom, liberty, self-determination and privacy.
• We propagate and teach Cyberology’s tenets to anyone who is receptive to our message.
• We safeguard freedoms such as freedom of speech, freedom of expression and the right to privacy online.
• We embrace and promote the use of privacy-enhancing technologies that empower individuals to control their digital footprint and protect their online privacy.
• We oppose and overcome (government) censorship, (mass) surveillance, tracking and profiling on the internet.
• We can perform all other actions that are related to or beneficial to our teachings and mission.

In short, we wish for every human being to be able to explore and use an uncensored internet where secure and private communication is the default.

3 Means

We run public church services that empower all our followers to control their digital footprint, improve their privacy and overcome censorship, surveillance, tracking and profiling. Even if you are not a follower of Cyberology, you can still join our public church services freely and enhance your interaction with cyberspace.

In addition we educate and teach or provide solicited and unsolicited advice to citizens, organizations and public authorities about the importance of safeguarding and improving online rights and freedoms.

And last but not least we actively encourage and contribute to the development and use of technologies and methods that enable humans to communicate anonymously, securely, reliably and freely on the internet.

4 Plans, policies and finances

As transparency is important for us, we publish our plans and objectives, our policies and documents and far-reaching insight in to our financial situation transparently for everyone to see.

Our current plans outline concrete objectives, strategies, and actions for 2024-2026 to achieve our vision and defend the values in which we believe. In 2024 we focus mostly on setting up the church, such as its official registration, banking account, website/transparency, email/communication channels and policies among other things.

We have policies in place to show how we bring our mission and believes in to practice and provide a yearly income (including donations) and expenses overview and a profit and loss account.

5 Structure

5.1 Governing board

The Church of Cyberology is governed by a board that plays a crucial role in guiding and overseeing the affairs of the church community. The board is comprised of dedicated individuals who are committed to the church’s mission and function as stewards of the church’s resources and custodians of its core beliefs. Below are the board’s most important responsibilities:

• The board is responsible for providing spiritual leadership and guidance to the congregation. This includes upholding the church’s core beliefs, fostering spiritual growth among members and ensuring that all activities align with the church’s mission.
• The board sets the long-term vision and strategic direction of the church. This involves assessing the needs of the church community, identifying goals and objectives, and developing plans to achieve them in alignment with the church’s mission.
• The board oversees the financial affairs of the church in a responsible and transparent manner. This includes overseeing budgeting, financial planning and ensuring proper accounting practices are followed.
• The board is tasked with establishing and upholding the governance structure of the church. This involves setting policies, procedures, and guidelines for the operation of the church, as well as overseeing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• The board is accountable to the church community and operates with transparency and integrity in all its decisions and actions. It provides regular reports to the church community on the church’s activities, finances, and overall health.

5.2 Executive board

The executive board of the Church of Cyberology serves as the operational arm responsible for executing the decisions and policies set forth by the governing board. The executive board consists of dedicated individuals with specific areas of expertise to implement strategies, manage day-to-day operations and lead and facilitate the ministries. Below are the executive board’s most important responsibilities:

• The executive board oversees the day-to-day operations of the church, including administrative tasks and coordination of events and activities. It ensures that the Church of Cyberology operates smoothly and efficiently to fulfill its mission.
• The executive board manages the financial affairs of the church, including budgeting, financial reporting, and stewardship of resources. It works closely with the board to develop and monitor the church’s budget, ensure responsible fiscal management and maintain transparency in financial matters.
• The executive board is tasked with the recruitment, training, and supervision of church staff and volunteers.
• The executive board is responsible for communicating with the church community and the broader community about activities, programs and events. It utilizes various channels, including newsletters and social media to keep the church community informed and engaged.
• The executive board fosters relationships with the community, agencies and partners to expand Cyberology’s outreach efforts. It seeks opportunities for collaboration and partnership to amplify the impact of the church’s mission.

All members of the executive board are also part of the governing board, but not all members of the governing board are part of the executive board.
